Scorpeus Consulting is headed up by its Founder and CEO Simon Davies. Simon is a UK-trained Chartered Accountant with over 30 years of broad and extensive industry experience in financial and commercial roles both in the UK and overseas. His expertise spans private equity investment as well as hands-on business management, with a strong track record in corporate restructuring and portfolio realignment, business improvement, and turnaround situations. Throughout his career, Simon has developed proven business leadership skills and a consistent ability to rapidly identify viable roadmaps for businesses - whether start-ups, those that are fast growing, or others experiencing financial, commercial, or operational difficulties.
From 2002 to 2007, Simon was based in Dubai at Abraaj Capital, joining the firm at inception and serving initially as CFO and subsequently as COO. He joined when the firm comprised a small founding team and a single investment. Over the following five years, he was instrumental in building Abraaj into one of the region's most formidable and pioneering private equity institutions - establishing the complete operational and institutional infrastructure, including finance, legal, compliance, personnel, and all banking and professional relationships. Simon served as a board director across numerous portfolio companies spanning multiple sectors and geographies, and played an active role on the investment committee, contributing to investment appraisal and structuring across all fund activities. A particular highlight of his tenure was his central role in the design and execution of a landmark capital increase in 2006 - in which major regional and international institutional investors participated, bringing Abraaj's issued share capital to $1 billion and providing the foundation for the firm's subsequent international expansion. By the time Simon left the firm, it had grown to multiple funds with assets under management approaching $3 billion and had been established as a fully licensed and regulated institutional investment manager. Once the institutional framework was complete, Simon left the firm.
After an extended sabbatical, Simon established an advisory practice focusing on providing practical assistance to the private equity industry across multiple continents. He subsequently broadened his focus to include activity across several sectors, working alongside a variety of stakeholders to achieve enhanced efficiency and profitability, providing restructuring and improvement options, and realigning existing underperforming businesses to achieve their potential. Thereafter, Simon focused the majority of his time on concept incubation - identifying efficient and effective platform-based solutions to mainstream commercial challenges and underutilisation of business resources.
Simon is currently driving the firm's flagship project SWYFTEE - a two-sided digital labour marketplace originally built and proven live in the UK market in 2017 - which is now in the active pre-development phase for launching on modern architecture as an intelligent, adaptive platform. SWYFTEE connects businesses needing short-notice flexible staff with nearby workers in real time, operating as a pure introducer with no agency involvement, no payroll, and no commission. The 2026 rebuild will introduce an intelligent operational layer, adaptive intelligence capability, and an international expansion model designed to scale across new markets efficiently and without starting from scratch. The strategic and technical blueprint is complete, and the platform is preparing to commence its technical rebuild. SWYFTEE does not need to promise the future. It only needs to be switched back on.
More recently, Simon has completed the first two volumes of a trilogy based upon a fictional private equity firm based in Dubai. The final volume is firmly underway. More information is available at https://prequiti.godaddysites.com
